Lockeland Springs Neighborhood Association is looking forward to its thirty-first annual tour of homes, the Celebration of Home, scheduled for December 5th from 5-9PM and December 6th from 1-5PM.
The Celebration of Homes honors everything our neighborhood has become in the past generation. This year’s tour will highlight the creativity, diversity and engagement of this one-of-a-kind urban neighborhood. Our neighborhood is more than just a collage of beautiful homes. The tour is a celebration not only of the architecture that exemplifies this historic neighborhood, but the neighbors themselves, from young families welcoming their first baby to empty-nesters who’ve raised their children in this community, from singles creating new horizons to creative couples who travel the world but come home to Lockeland Springs.
The tour highlights some of our neighborhood’s most diverse architecture, with each home a unique reflection of the neighbors who live there. In addition to spotlighting these welcoming residences, the Celebration of Home also lauds our neighborhood businesses. Each home enjoys a Home Partner for the tour, whose specialty business or service will be featured prominently in the residence. In some homes, our Home Partners’ services will be spotlighted, like the beautiful floral arrangements provided by East Garden and the one-of-a-kind quilt work from Elaine Mazzini. In other homes, guests will be able to partake of the services themselves, including a wine tasting hosted by the Woodland Wine Merchant, coffee services from Bongo Java and an ice-cream sundae stand by Pied Piper Creamery.
The tour itself is worth the price of the ticket: only $10 if you purchase your tickets prior to the tour weekend and only $12 if you purchase them during the tour. Ticket holders are rewarded with much more than just entrance to the home, though. This year’s Tour Sponsors have offered special incentives and discounts to ticketholders. The discounts are printed on the tour ticket and include free or reduced services throughout the neighborhood with a combined value of well over $100.
Tickets are available for purchase at Pied Piper Creamery, Elizabeth Griswold’s Great Stuff, Wags and Whiskers, Alegria, Sweet 16th Bakery and Fairy Tales. This year’s tour will offer a glimpse into the families and homes that create the fabric of a neighborhood. We honor our history and celebrate what we become and wonder aloud what the next thirty years will hold for this exceptional urban community. For more information, visit www.lockelandsprings.org.
